2. "The Divine Art of Torture," indeed. There is a terrible insidiousness to this album that is unmistakable. Necrophagia take gore metal to a whole new level. "Flowers of Flesh and Blood" is my favorite on the album. If you like pounding riffage and a great overall metal vibe, and you can stomach a few raunchy lyrics, then youll love this album.

3. The Divine Art of Torture is dedicated to and inspired by José Mojica Marins aka Zé do Caixão (Zé do Caixão) - a Brazilian filmmaker, actor, screenwriter, and television/media personality. Marins is known primarily as a horror film director, his earlier works were Westerns, dramas & adventure films.

5. The Divine Art of Torture, the band's fourth full-length, is certainly one of its most ugly creations, if lacking stylistic refinement or many truly memorable tracks. Does that matter here? Yes and no there's a primal hideousness coursing through the ten cuts of this album which is certainly engaging and abusive.

7. This record is much better than I expected, with the departure of Phil Anselmo, I thought Necrophagia would loose it's new-found vision and intensity (as witnessed in "Holocausto De la Morte"), but "The Divine Art of Torture" is tha band's most acomplished effort to date/5(5).
