  1. Andy Statman is known both for his clarinet and mandolin playing, and he is equally adept at both. Sometimes his two worlds collide, but East Flatbush Blues finds him sticking to his strings, while the simultaneously recorded Awakening from Above is meant to showcase Statman 's clarinet work.7/

  4. Of all Andy Statman's previous recordings, Old Brooklyn reminds me most of Nashville Mornings, New York Nights (now out of print; it would be great to have this available again on CD or MP3). This new collection mixes klezmer-style pieces with bluegrass-style, performed by a relatively large ensemble/5(19).
  5. Arranger: Andy Statman. Clarinetist and mandolin player Andy Statman shows off his chops on the latter on EAST FLATBUSH BLUES, an album that sticks primarily to bluegrass-oriented American roots music. Statman is joined by a crack rhythm section of bass and drums, leaving plenty of room for Statman to burn up the fretboard on his mandolin.5/5(4).
  6. Jan 13,  · On East Flatbush Blues, Statman lets his mandolin take center stage. A mix of traditional tunes and original compositions, part of the CD was recorded during Statman's weekly gig at the Greenwich Village Synagogue.
